Pinwheel

Instructions:

• Follow the webbing manufacturer's directions for preparation of fabric and bonding.  Fuse web to wrong side of one piece of fabric and then to the wrong side of the other piece.  You will now have one piece of double-sided fabric.
• Measure or use the pattern below to cut 2 1/8" x 2 1/8" squares of fabric.  Each square will make one pinwheel.  Use bigger or smaller squares for different size pinwheels.

• From each corner cut almost to the center of the square.  See dotted lines on pattern.  You will now have 8 points.
• Fold every other point (see dotted side of corners on pattern) to the center, gluing each point down as you go.  If using tacky glue, hold in place with a straight pin until dry.
• Glue a button or rosette to the center of pinwheel or sew a button in place with 6 strand embroidery floss.
• Decorate dowel if desired and let dry.  Glue dowel to back of pinwheel.
• Glue a pin or magnet to the back of pinwheel or sew/glue a hanger for hanging for an ornament.

A super easy pinwheel:

• Use construction paper, heavy colored foil, wrapping paper, etc. in place of the fabric.  Glue two pieces together with prettiest sides out.  For paper use a simple push up glue stick.
• Use a brad (two pronged kind that holds paper together) in the center in place of button.
• Use a pipe cleaner or piece of straw in place of the dowel.
• Simple enough for kids yet still adorable!
