Subject: Poem request

I know it is a last minute request, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...wondering if anyone could come up with a short poem for a memorial to my mom who passed away yesterday morning. She was a beautiful mom, and always did everything for us...would always put us first, I have three sisters and one brother, she took in so many children, and took care of them...never complained..then the last few years she has been suffering quite a bit with arthritis pain and was confined to a wheelchair and finally got so bad that she was bedridden..Now I am so sad to lose my mother, but am glad that she does not have to suffer any more...She is an angel, Thank you if anyone has the time to try, I will appreciate it.

[Darlene - couldn't find the shorter version of this one, but I know there is one. My Mom died 09 Dec and we liked this one - we knew she was walking with Jesus, too. Hope this sort of helps. Love and sympathy! JoyinMT]

I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below.
With tiny lights, like heaven's stars
Reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,
Please wipe away that tear,
For I'm spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
That people hold so dear.
But the sounds of music can't compare
With the Christmas choir up here.

For I have no words to tell you
The joy their voices bring.
For it is beyond description
to hear as angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
For I'm spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I can't tell you of the splendour
Or the peace here in this place
Can you imagine Christmas
With our Savior, face to face?

I'll ask Him to light your spirit
As I tell him of your love.
So then pray for one another
As you lift your eyes above.

So please let your hearts be joyful
And let your spirit sing,
For I'm spending Christmas in heaven
And I'm walking with the King!

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your mom. Even if they have been ill or failing, it isn't anything that we are prepared for. My heart goes out to you and your family. Back in 2011 I wrote this poem for Darlene to include in a scrapbook for her mom. Today I have altered it to fit the loss of your mom. I hope that it will work for you.

A mother's world is so complex.
She has so much to do.
Her head dons hats of many occupations,
and her feet fill many shoes.

Mom is just a little word,
but the implications are oh, so many.
She was a nurse, a cook, a teacher, a chauffeur,
and bugeter of every penny.

Her presence extended beyond her home,
to family and miles beyond.
Her heart has welcomed many others
that seemed to be left behind.

Through all that was placed before her,
she was a soulmate by our side.
A mother that's now an angel
with whom our love abides.

With a life so filled with goodness
we now need to stop and pause a bit.
To look back at all she accomplished
and see the real worth of it.

She might not have been as active,
or she may have moved a little slow,
but for all the lives she touched,
she deserves a break, you know.

So let her memories carry us forth
and Mom, let Heaven welcome you.
For all that you have done for us,
it's the least that we can do.

For some reason this was left off of my original post. I wasn't sure if this was the same Darlene or not, but if it is, now you might want to share the poem with others that was specially created for your mom.
